As part of President E. Joseph Savoie’s strategic initiative and master plan, the Department of Housing is moving into zoning various classifications to different locations on campus. Ultimately, when the plan is complete, freshmen will live in the Rose Garden residence halls, which will include Harris Hall as well as the two new facilities currently under construction scheduled do open Fall 2012. Sophomores and Juniors will live in the Taft Street residence halls, Baker and Huger Halls. Legacy Park will house juniors, seniors, and graduate students. The Conference Center will continue to house athletes, honors students, and some graduate students.
In the past, applications were processed by date order on a first-come, first-serve basis. This year, however, 2012-2013 contract applications from upperclassmen will be given priority over those received from freshmen and sophomore incoming applicants. At this time, we are in the transition phase. Returning Legacy Park residents who will be at least sophomores, will be allowed to renew their lease agreements and live at Legacy Park another year as we make this change to primarily housing upperclassmen.
If you have any questions as the Department of Housing prepares to make these changes, feel free to email email@example.com or call the Housing office (337) 482-6471.
